Tim Lebel is a veteran software executive with an extensive background in both consumer and corporate software solutions. A founding member of Smith and Tinker, he serves as the Chief Information Officer overseeing all of the development and manufacturing initiatives for the company's upcoming interactive toys.
Tim has spent the last sixteen years serving as a manager in various divisions throughout Microsoft. Most recently, Tim was the product unit manager in Microsoft's consumer software division, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of a new consumer software product for home productivity, from inception to product strategy. From 2001 until 2005, Tim was the product unit manager in the Digital Media Division for the Windows Extension Team. His team was responsible for defining and shipping multiple versions of Microsoft Plus! Products, which brought in more than $35M in revenue and sold millions of units.
Tim also spent four years as the product unit manager for Microsoft's Office in the Media Store Team. During this time, he was responsible for the design and delivery of the Clip Gallery component, a management tool for photos, clipart, sound and animations. While there, he also oversaw the development of Design Gallery Live, which has millions of unique visitors a month. Tim began his career in Microsoft in the Excel division, where he served as a product manager and product planning manager for six years.
Prior to his career at Microsoft, Tim spent eight years at Ashton-Tate Corporation. He held several positions while there, including technical support engineer, technical marketer and product manager of the dBASE compiler. During his time as product manager of dBASE, he helped the business grow from a $60 million to a $300 million dollar business.
